HP 4944A

The 4944A Transmission Impairment Measuring Set (TIMS) measures analog parameters on voice bandwidth data circuits. This unit tests loss, message circuit noise, noise-with-tone, signal-to-noise ratio, impulse noise, envelope delay distortion, and nonlinear distortion tariffed for C- and D-conditioned leased data lines. The 4944A comes equipped with master-slave capabilities, allowing use on 4-wire circuits. This unit also comes with an automatic, comprehensive self-checking capability. The transmitter frequency range is from 200Hz to 3950Hz with a resolution of 1Hz. The transmitter level range is from +10 dBm to -40 dBm with a resolution of 0.1 dBm. The receiver frequency range covers 200Hz to 4100Hz with a resolution of 1Hz. The receiver level range is from +10 dBm to -69.9 dBm with a resolution of 0.1 dBm. The transmitter impedances are 600-ohms and 900-ohms nominal. The receiver terminating impedances are 600-ohms and 900-ohms. This unit comes with weighting filters C-message or 3kHz flat, and notch filter (>50 dB rejection from 995Hz to 1025Hz). The impulse noise threshold range is from 30 dBrn to 109 dBrn.
